Qualification Level: 2 

Duration : 2.5  Days

Assessment: Knowledge Test + Practical Assessment/Observation. Pass or Fail. Internally assessed and verified by centre staff External quality assurance by external verifiers


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification set by the awarding body. 

However, please be advised that this is an advanced course and therefore well developed carpentry skills are essential. We expect all learners to be working at Level 3 or have extensive experience in carpentry and/or door hanging

Candidates are also required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills relevant to the role of a Fire Door Installer. This would include the ability to write short reports, make basic calculations for measurements and quantities and to communicate effectively, in a range of ways, with colleagues and line managers.

  • Clients premises (minimum 6 students) or at our 
  • Regional Training Hub in Mid Bedfordshire

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DELEGATES

Our courses and programs are designed to prepare delegates for well-paid, industry-recognized jobs We limit the delegate/tutor ratio to 8:1 to ensure everyone recieves one-to-one training opportunities.

LEARNING CONTENT

This course is designed to equip candidates with the essential skills needed to install fire-resisting timber door assemblies and doorsets. Participants will also acquire the foundational knowledge necessary to support these skills effectively.


Throughout the course, candidates will have the opportunity to apply their learning and practice their new skills in a controlled environment, guided by a qualified instructor.

  • The purpose and functionality of fire-resisting timber door assemblies and doorsets
  • Relevant legislation and guidance related to fire door installation
  • Reading, interpreting and understanding the design specification ('The Design Envelope') for fire door assemblies and doorsets
  • Pre-installation planning considerations
  • Procedures for installing fire-resisting timber door assemblies and doorsets
  • Methods for verifying installation and maintaining certification and performance standards


Practical Skills:

  • Installation of fire-resisting timber door assemblies and doorsets  in accordance with manufacturer's requirements and current codes of practice.
