L3 award in the inspection of Fire stopping installations

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

Qualification title: ProQual Level 3 Award in the Inspection and Testing of Fire Stopping Installations 

Ofqual qualification number: 610/1532/5 

Level: Level 3

Duration: 2.5 Days 

Assessment: Knowledge Test + Inspection Evidence Portfolio. Pass or fail. Assessed and verified by centre staff. External quality assurance by ProQual verifiers

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have prior or current work experience andwork experience

within the fire safety industry 


Candidates who are employed in the fire safety industry should be able to demonstrate relevant prior learning through the achievement of relevant awards, qualifications


Candidates are also required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills relevant to the role of a Fire Door Inspector. This would include the ability to write short reports, make basic calculations for measurements and quantities and to communicate effectively, in a range of ways, with colleagues and line managers.

LEARNING CONTENT

This course is designed to introduce the essential knowledge, product selection and basic installation techniques for passive fire protection products installed within social housing properties  By the end of this course attendees will: 

  •  Understand the basic principles of fire protection in property maintenance operations
  •  Understand the principles and application of passive fire protection 
  •  Understand the principles and application of fire compartmentation
  • Understand the Legal operating framework for Passive Fire Protection
  •  Understand passive fire protection products and installation techniques 
  •  Be able to Inspect and record PFP Installations against a given specification
  • Understand how to monitor and QA subcontractor works


The course is designed to enable both tradespersons, technicians and supervisory staff to be able to develop, read and understand specifications related to passive fire installations, to inspect installations against the given specification and product information and to work with installers and subcontractors to achieve the desired performance outcomes.
